Besides aiming to reach the top in surfing, I also want to be a role model for the next generation. I want to show that surfing isn’t just for boys, but is accessible to everyone—whether you live by the beach or in the city, whether you’re a girl, or whether you’ve had many or few opportunities to practice sports like surfing from a young age.
That’s why I like to take the time to introduce children to surfing. I do this, among other things, through my ambassadorship with Ride The Wave and in collaboration with organizations such as the Yvonne van Gennip Talent Fund.
